Diego Piacentini has served as senior vice president International since joining the company in February 2000. Diego report directly to Jeff Bezos and is responsible for all retail operations in the five international countries outside of North America: UK, Germany, France, Japan and China. Those countries generate 47% of Amazon.com revenue.

Prior to joining Amazon.com, Diego was vice president and general manager of Apple Computer Europe, where he headed operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He joined Apple Computer in 1987. Diego held several financial management positions both in Apple Italy and at a European level through 1993. He served as sales director for Apple Italy in 1994 and was promoted to the post of general manager for Apple Italy in May 1995.

Diego serves on the advisory boards of the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington and of Endeavor, a global non-profit organization that finds and supports entrepreneurs in developing countries. Diego is also on the board of the Maasai Association (www.maasai-association.org) supporting their education and health initiatives.

Diego holds a degree in economics from Bocconi University of Milan. An Italian national, he has traveled and worked across Europe, Asia and North America.
